Museum-panorama “Borodino Battle”

Panorama “Borodino Battle” was created in 1912. Museum was opened in 1962 when a special building was constructed for it. The facades are decorated with mosaic panels and cast-iron bas-reliefs depicting military armour. The museum collection is displayed in several halls: the introductory hall devoted to the events of the Patriotic War of 1812, the round hall where battle-pieces painted by Franz Rubo are displayed, and the panorama hall. Panorama depicts one of the most important battles of the war with Napoleon in 1812. On the territory of the museum there is a marble obelisk put on the grave of 300 Russian warriors killed during Borodino battle.
